The Humble Cabbage
We want to publicly declare our love for cabbages! Often dismissed as being a bit too boring, this massively underrated vegetable is packed full of nutrients, it won’t break the bank and, cooked in the right way, it is absolutely delicious.

We wanted to give some love to cabbages and share a few ideas on how to get the best out of them, (not just because we have a fair amount of them in the Hub). Here are three of the reasons why we love cabbage:
They are incredibly hardy!
Most varieties can tolerate below-freezing temperatures. This means that they are very reliable and stand more chance of being harvested than other Winter vegetables. As the climate becomes less stable, we’re going to need to rely on foods that can grow in a variety of different conditions.
They are nutritionally excellent!
Boasting a variety of different nutrients, adding more cabbage to your diet is a great way to boost Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Folate, Manganese and Vitamin B6. Vitamin K helps the blood clot properly, C can protect against heart disease, certain cancers, and vision loss, B6 and Folate are important for energy metabolism and the nervous system and Manganese helps maintain normal brain and nerve function.
Last but certainly not least – they’re delicious!
