Celebrating Our Partnership with Hampers.com
Our Food Sourcing Manager, Spencer Lawes visited the award-winning Hampers.com team and their distribution hub last month.
For many years, they have worked closely with us to make sure that any surplus from their operation is donated to Oxford Food Hub. On average, they provide the surplus food equivalent of 655 meals.
“It’s such a privilege to work alongside Hampers.com. The surplus they provide tends to be high-quality treat items. Which really complements what we distribute.” Spencer said after his visit.
Their support helps us provide for more than 200 local charities and community groups, including homeless shelters, hospices, food banks, nurseries, women’s refuges, mental health support groups, and many more.
Based in Oxfordshire, Hampers.com has over 45 years of gifting expertise, dating back to 1979. Their beautiful gift hampers are carefully curated with responsibly sourced, artisanal foods and wines. Every gift is hand-picked and packed with care! Hampers.com is also proud to be a 100% Carbon Neutral business and a Real Living Wage Employer, with a strong focus on creating positive change for people, communities, and the environment.
Surplus can arise for many reasons, such as cancelled events, food with a short shelf life, or packaging issues. Food waste is responsible for 8–10% of total greenhouse gas emissions (source)! By partnering with Oxford Food Hub, Hampers.com is preventing high-quality surplus food from going to waste across Oxfordshire.
We are so grateful to receive Hampers.com’s surplus. They are such a joy to work with, and our charity partners benefit greatly from the surplus they donate. It’s inspiring to see organisations like Hampers.com prioritise environmental impact and positive local community support.
If your business ever finds itself with surplus food, please email Spencer, our food sourcing manager, at spencer@oxfordfoodhub.org. We can arrange a free collection, or you’re welcome to drop donations directly to us. You can also help support the work we do by donating here.
